Programs


  • Child Abuse Prevention Program (CAPP): teaches child abuse prevention and personal safety skills to preschool and elementary school students and violence prevention to adults. Call (740) 522-2277, or email prevention@mhalc.org for more information.
  • Compeer: serves people who are recovering from a mental illness. Compeer recruits, screens, trains and matches volunteers in one-to-one friendship relationships with adults. Compeer volunteers become positive role models and mentors. They help raise self-esteem, increase social and communication skills and encourage independence of their compeer friend, aiding them in their recovery from mental illness. Call (740) 345-5658.
  • Mental Health Education
  • Suicide Prevention: teaches symptoms of depression and warning signs of suicide. This program encourages help-seeking behavior in youth and adults. Call (740) 522-1341 or email prevention@mhalc.org for more information.
  • I.C. Hope®:  provides a classroom-based mental health curriculum designed for grades K - 4 to help children overcome the negative perceptions and images associated with mental health problems.  A duck puppet is used to facilitate the message "Don't Duck Mental Health!"  Call (740) 788-0339 or email prevention@mhalc.org for more information.
  • ParenTalk Newsletters:  a series of 20 newsletters sent to Licking County families for the first 5 years of a child's life to help raise mentally healthy children.
  • Parent Support (PS): reaches out to parents under stress. Parents can attend workshops and support groups, or simply call to talk with someone about their children's behavior. Free on-site child care and transportation are available. Call (740) 522-2277.
  • Youth Engaged in Service (YES): a positive youth development and service learning program, this safe haven after-school and summer program inspires hundreds of young people in Licking County to give back to their community.   • Prevent Assault & Violence Education (PAVE):  teaches violence prevention at school and in the community. High school volunteers enact socio-dramas and teach middle school students ways to be violence-free. Call (740) 522-2277 or email prevention@mhalc.org for more information.
