Do you know someone who is in treatment for mental illness and needs a friend?

Community integration is the right of all people, and encompasses housing; employment; education; leisure and recreation; social roles; peer support; health status, citizenship; self-determination and spirituality.

To achieve this, the individuals served by our program need to develop supportive relationships within the community to directly address isolation and self-esteem. Individuals who experience severe and persistent mental illness are at-risk and need assistance in skill development and accessing community resources.

Mental Health America of Licking County’s program participants showed increased compliance with their treatment plan and a decreased use of hospital emergency rooms.

Participants (for whom these areas are a goal) showed improvements in self-esteem, self-reliance, trust, social skills, decreased isolation, and educational and vocational goals.

Our program has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing stigma in the community.
